The entrance to the bog walk is next door to the Abbeyleix Manor Hotel with parking available there. The walk begins down a long cool lane thats lush with trees and understory forest plants, a nice green entry to the site, with little hint of what’s to come. Fairy Dell Flora Reserve is a nature conservation reserve of special significance to the local area of Bruthen, eastablished in 1984. At 80ha in size, it protects an important area of warm temperate rainforest and is a lovely spot to explore. Old trees are covered in mosses (even in Summer), lovely native orchids bloom in spring, and vines and ferns also dominate the landscape.
With the hot summer about to break on us here in the southern hemisphere, it's nice to know that, especially if you're a city dweller, there's a cool and soothing oasis in the middle of the city that you can escape to.
The "Blue Pool" in the coastal town of Bermagui on the New South Wales Sapphire Coast, is a delightful scenic man made pool to swim in, developed from a natural pool back in 1936.
